Myth: Apprenticeships are just for people who didn’t do well at school.
Fact: An Apprenticeship is a brilliant alternative for everyone. It’s a chance to gain qualifications, experience and skills all at the same time, and all while earning too!
Myth: Apprenticeships are only available for practical hands-on jobs.
Fact: At Currys, our Apprenticeships are available in a huge variety of areas. Yes, you might decide that something manual and hands-on is the right choice for you. But you might also prefer to consider something like Tech, Marketing, Finance or Law.
Myth: Apprentices just end up making tea and doing the photocopying.
Fact: As a Currys Apprentice, you’ll be doing a real job from day one – and having a real impact. You’ll be part of our team, trusted to play your part on projects and all the time learning from the best.
Myth: Apprenticeships are only for young people.
Fact: Our Apprenticeships are open to everyone. So, if you’re thinking about doing something new, and would like to earn while you train to do it, a Currys apprenticeship could be the perfect option.
Myth: Apprenticeships don’t pay well.
Fact: Our Apprenticeships come with a range of salaries, proper pay for a proper job. And all your training is included, so there are no new student loans or fees to worry about.
Myth: Apprentices don’t get a proper qualification.
Fact: Apprenticeships are nationally recognised qualifications and come with the added benefit of being able to put your learning into practice. Our programmes cover a whole range of academic levels from 2 to 7 so there is something for everyone. Not only that but many of our programmes also offer professional qualifications alongside them and some even come with Bachelor or Masters Degrees.
Myth: Apprenticeships can be isolating.
Fact: Most of the time when we take on new apprentices, there will be others joining at the same time. Your programme will be delivered by a specialist learning provider and with that comes the support of tutors and coaches that are there for you when you need them. You’ll also get to work with people who started with us in the same way as you and who have gone on to build their careers here. You’ll make friends and build a professional network as well – creating connections that will last a lifetime.
Myth: Apprenticeships don’t lead to a good career.
Fact: An Apprenticeship is a brilliant way to launch or develop your career. You’ll gain qualifications, practical skills and experience. And you’ll build a professional network too. Many of our previous Apprentices have gone on to become senior managers and leaders.
